On arrival, there were already 6 or 7 tour buses and pandemonium at the entrance! Seems everyone has cottoned on to the \u201cbeat the heat\u201d concept! <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0255.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SAM_0255\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_0255\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0255_thumb.jpg\" width=\"648\" height=\"796\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0281.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SAM_0281\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_0281\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0281_thumb.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"490\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Palenque is impressive but as ruins go, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uxmal\" target=\"_blank\">Uxmal<\/a>, for me, wins hands down! I have now had the benefit of seeing all the major and some minor sites in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras and although Uxmal is not the tallest, or largest site, for visual appeal, beauty, engineering and detail, Uxmal is the place that I would want to spend a few more hours wandering around!<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0252.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SAM_0252\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_0252\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0252_thumb.jpg\" width=\"648\" height=\"857\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0277.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SAM_0277\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_0277\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0277_thumb.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"453\" \/><\/a>&#160;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">We had a relatively short run of only 220km to do to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/San_Crist%C3%B3bal_de_las_Casas\" target=\"_blank\">San Cristobal de las casas<\/a> today although it was through the mountains and twisty because this town sits at an elevation of 2200m and is a welcome respite from the heat of the last few weeks!!<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/Daysride15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Days ride\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Days ride\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/Daysride_thumb15.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>Our days ride\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/Daysridezoom.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Days ride-zoom\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Days ride-zoom\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/Daysridezoom_thumb.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>Zoomed for Pete..<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">We are spending two nights here to relax and explore as we have covered 1100km in the last 3 days which is quite good going when you add the fact that we have been simultaneously exploring ruins.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0312.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SAM_0312\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_0312\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_0312_thumb.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"401\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><em>On route to San Cristobal\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We were up early to see the ruins of Palenque today and expecting to get there at 08h00 sharp and beat the crowds however that was naive!
