We slept in a little, had breakfast and went out to explore Puno.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_3252.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"SAM_3252\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_3252\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_3252_thumb.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"490\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>The local church in Puno over looking the Plaza.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_3251.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"SAM_3251\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_3251\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_3251_thumb.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"490\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>Ladies in traditional Peruvian dress..<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">In addition to the above, we took a boat out to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uros\" target=\"_blank\">Uros<\/a> Island, one of the famous floating islands that are inhabited on <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lake_titicaca\" target=\"_blank\">lake Titicaca<\/a>. The lake, at an altitude of 3812m is considered the highest navigable lake by commercial crafts in the world and has some 42 man made islands on it that are inhabited by about 2000 people.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_3305.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"SAM_3305\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_3305\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_3305_thumb.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"490\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_3313.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"SAM_3313\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAM_3313\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capetocairo2010.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAM_3313_thumb.jpg\" width=\"649\" height=\"490\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>Uros floating island. The one we visited had 6 families and consisted of 22 people. They make their money from fishing and tourism.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The visit was very interesting but I stupidly didn\u2019t have any face cream on and promptly got burnt like a tomato!<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">After the visit, Jax and I had lunch at a small local restaurant inhabited by locals and fishermen which was very cool and the rest of the day was spent relaxing.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Tomorrow we head for Cusco.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was a well deserved rest day.
